LONDON. This morning, Meghan Markle made her own personal statement through the Kensington Palace on the drama surrounding whether or not her father Thomas Markle will be at her wedding. “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding,” she said. “I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”

“I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
This is the first time Markle has spoken on her own since her father told TMZ Monday that he would no longer attend the wedding because of his health and embarrassment over his staging photos with the paparazzi ahead of the wedding. Typically, statements through the Palace are attributed to a spokesperson and speak for both her and Prince Harry, so this is very rare.
Markle’s father was to walk her down the aisle on Saturday. At this point, the top contender to have the honor now is her mother, Doria Ragland, who arrived in London yesterday after leaving Los Angeles on Tuesday.
