Brazil. Astonishing details of Brazilian superstar and PSG player Neymar’s contract with the American sportswear giant Nike, which ties both from 2011 to 2022 and which the company can expand unilaterally until 2024, have been published.
Nike divides teams into categories (A, B, C and D) and, depending on this, the remuneration of the Brazilian varies. Nike qualified in 2011 that Chelsea, Milan, Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus, Bayern, Inter, Barcelona and Real Madrid would all fall into Category A. The contract also includes individual and team goals.
A Ballon d’Or is the trophy that Neymar would earn most money from; yes, even more than a World Cup, Champions League or Olympic Games win.
The bonus for a Ballon d’Or win is $1000,000, increasing to a cap of $4000,000 if he were to win the award on multiple occasions.
The PSG superstar will reportedly earn $50,000 if Brazil lift the world cup trophy – and $200,000 if he is named Player of the Tournament or finishes as top goalscorer
In the Olympic Games the same thing would happen, $20,000 for gold, $100,000 for top scorer and $150,000 for being player of the tournament.
Neymar’s fees in this contract with Nike are also subject to his presence in the Brazilian national team, and he must play at least 70 percent of the matches. His remuneration is suspended if his presence is between 30 percent and 70 percent and if it drops below that, Neymar isn’t paid at all.
